In last December Baku held ETU-ITU Development camp. 21 young triathletes and coaches join to that camp and experienced diverse training sessions and tests under the guidance of Miloš Petelin, ITU Development. At the beginning of a new Olympic cycle, the ITU and ATF are on the lookout for young athletes who have potentials to be future Olympian. They had many
theoretical and practical sessions. And after few months triathletes received official documents about successfully attending the ETU-ITU Development Camp.
President of Azerbaijan triathlon Federation Azer Maharramov said that the young athletes had great motivation and were eager to learn and improve their performance. «Development Camp was a massive success as all the athletes and coaches bonded really well and went on to learn from each other and share ideas and exchange information», - said A.Maharramov.
The International Triathlon Union is committed to supporting the development of the sport worldwide. The ITU seeks to support these goals through strong relationships with continental and national federation constituents, working with its partners to offer a balanced sport development programme from grass roots to a high performance level.
ITU has been able to establish a number of sport development initiatives that address the needs of young and elite athletes, particularly focusing on those from emerging and developing federations.
These initiatives form the foundations upon which National Federations, particularly developing and emerging federations, can build an athlete development pipeline - a key element of any long term performance sports strategy. Such a pipeline is important as federations, athletes and their coaches strive for sustained competitive excellence at all levels of the sport.

The Presidents and representatives from 33 European National Federations, along with 15 Local Organising Committees, who will play a vital role in this years’ sporting calendar, recently attended a Gala organized by the European Triathlon Union (ETU) in Paris, in which Nicola Spirig and Javier Gomez Noya were named the best European Athletes of the Year.
Marisol Casado, President of ITU and IOC Member, spoke to the delegates, explaining how thrilled she was that Europe was such a triathlon success and “top of the top” in terms of events and athletes. She thanked the numerous “unsung heroes” that make up the various committees and who, despite having full-time jobs, are still able to dedicate many hours of their own time to making sure that our sport is run so successfully. She gave notice that she wishes to continue in her present role as President and hoped that Europe can continue to give her such solid support.
The conference was hosted by the Fédération Française de Triathlon, and was opened by FFTRI President, Philippe Lescure who spoke about the positive developments of events in his country but also about the sad loss of their great sportsman, Laurent Vidal, and the recent tragedies in France.
During the gala, ETU President Renato Bertrandi identified some of the great successes of 2015. Looking forward to 2016, he shared with the conference the fact that so many significant events were due to take place in Europe, in this 2016 Olympic year: the ITU Winter Triathlon World Championships in Austria, the ITU Paratriathlon World Championships in Rotterdam and the ITU Powerman Long Distance Duathlon World Championships in Zofingen, as well as three World Triathlon Series races and three World Cups.

Triathlete of Azerbaijan team Daryna Moskalenko won bronze medal on Junior European Cup in Tulcea.
“From the start in the swim I got a good place with the top four girls. I came out of the water 3rd but made up some distance on the run to T1. It was a long run. I had a problem with my helmet in transition and that lost me some time but I still managed to get up to the leaders and then we were out on the bike. It was pretty tough and 5 laps. After 2 laps we were joined by one more athlete and so we were five together. There were some attempts to break away but at the end of the bike we all entered T2 together. That went well for me and I pushed the first 300m to catch up with the German and Hungarian girls. We were at an easy pace but then the Hungarian girl accelerated and then the German did too and at that point I struggled. But, I came third and this is my first international award, so I am very happy. But there is still a lot of work! And about the future of the country - from next season I will race for Azerbaijan. This season is all prepared on the basis of Baku, under the guidance of my coach Medvedev Lev Nikolaevich, with the full support of the Federation of Azerbaijan”, - said after finish Moskalenko.
